Chameleon House

Single-family house in Costa Adeje conceived from the application of integration strategies in the landscape. In order to blend in with its environment, in section, it adapts to the strong topography, passing unnoticed in the main access that faces the street and opening completely in the opposite direction, looking for views of the sea. Thus, an apparently small and modest construction towards the outer street, becomes majestic and imposing in the privacy of the interior of the plot.

The plant is divided to adapt to the place, producing a Raumplan-type spatial organisation. This is how the house is organised, with three half floors connected by the heart of the house, an atrium-type ramp that unfolds under this leading space in triple height. Integration is also achieved through the use of local colours and materials that work perfectly in the imposing southern Tenerife sun. Finally, it is intended to achieve a low cost and energy footprint, thanks to a construction with concrete blocks made in the area and lined with volcanic stone and wood from the island.
